TikTok Ban, January 18, 2025 (08:16 PM CST)

“Tiktok is just an app”

No, it’s not “just an app”. Sure, there’s more to life than an app on a phone and there’s even more to life than a phone itself. However, I have friends that I constantly share content with. We can text but it’s more fun with funny content and content that resonate with us personally. This app is also a stream of income for most people on the app.

While I have many many friends on that app, I also have a best friend on that app. I drive her crazy with my spam but she feels loved by it. Sure, there’s Instagram reels but no it isn’t the same. Yes, we text from the time she gets up 3 AM my time and I get up around 12-1 PM her time everyday. We facetime here and there. That’s not even the point. It’s a communication system bringing people together. She is going to have access to an app I will no longer have access to. She will no longer receive my massive loving spams. I once deleted my account but immediately got a secret account for four friends. Again, this is a communicative system.

“Well, just communicate and hang out?”

I can’t… She lives a world away until I get to France and then after that it’s back to bama and she is back to her state. We are long distance. That app makes us laugh and create relatable videos. I grew up in times when Links were out when I was in middle school/high school. I got a blackberry my freshman year in high school. I have lived without a phone and I do have many days I prefer not getting on my phone. It’s not about the app or cellphones… it’s about the different ways you can communicate with your friends!

Sure, we will find our ways around the ban, that is also not the point. The point is, it’s not “just an app”. It’s an income, creativity, ways to communicate, FREE SPEECH, etc.

Come on President Trump!
