Maurine “MeeMaw” “Mama Cooke”

May 5, 1930 — September 10, 2024

Her house being so filled that us kids would have to go outside and play or stay in the front room and watch Forrest Gump every holiday. We all learned adventure at her house and would wander into what we called, "the woods." We would go to this hill that is left to the house which is quite steep and just roll down it and even race down the hill. We once brought our bikes one day just to ride them down the steep little hill. I remember the smells of food in the house with talks and laughter as the glasses clinked and the dishes sang as we scraped our plates clean with our silver forks and spoons. You would always smell the baking of pies and turkey, alongside them would be the smell of yummy cooking vegetables. We would all sit at the dinner table as much as we could as others ventured into the front and back rooms. The rooms are all attached so we were still very close together. When I got older I finally got to sit at the dinner table as the pies lined up along the wall on the, what I called, the dessert table. It was a long table and the pies and/or cakes would be on these platforms. My Dad also loved her. She came to our house for the holidays and she and my Dad had the grandest of times (insert picture of them laughing and dancing).
