French Recipe: Croque Monsieur
French cuisines are heavily inspired here in America. So, I am going to make more French cuisines and possibly even drinks for the next couple of weeks.
First, I will be starting off with the croque monsieur.
It’s a ham sandwich but due to my own dietary restrictions, I will be replacing a fresh ham with freshly sliced turkey instead.
Ingredients:
garlic butter
plain flour
milk or heavy whipping cream
garlic clove
ciabatta or baguette (sliced)
bay leaf
dijon mustard
sliced turkey
grated vintage cheddar
Measurements: 30g garlic butter / 1 1/2 tbsp plain flour / 1 1/4 cups of milk or heavy whipping cream / 1 garlic clove / 1 bay leaf / 1 ciabatta or 1 baguette / 1 tbsp dijon mustard / 2-3 slices of turkey / 3/4 of grated vintage cheese
Melt the 30g of butter with 1 1/2 tbsp of plain flour, stir lightly for 1-2 minutes. Lightly add in 1 1/4 cups of milk or heavy whipping cream and crushed garlic and bay leaf. Stir or 3-5 minutes and allow to simmer.
Add in the slices of bread on top of the above ingredients at they grill a little until the bread starts to brown. Preheat the oven to 400 degree fahrenheit. Then add the bread into aluminum foils and bake for 20 minutes.
After baking, add your bread onto a plate then add your turkey with lightly added dijon mustard. You can then add your cheese onto the turkey and dijon mustard.
Then all you have left to do is enjoy!
Voila!
